Lactalex™ helps your horse’s muscles work harder for longer and recover quickly with the industry’s highest concentration of active ingredients. Addresses exercise-induced back soreness and muscle fatigue for a more comfortable athlete. Scroll down for complete information.
I have found Lactalex to be very effective in managing soreness and increasing the overall comfort in my horses from their training, travel and competition. What a wonderful product! Thank you so much!
1. Encourage healthy lactic acid levels during and after intense exercise
Researchers point to the buildup of lactic acid in the blood and within the muscle cells as an indication of fatigue, loss of energy, and muscle control. The ingredients Riboflavin, Pantothenic acid, Thiamine, Niacin and Lipoic Acid are believed to reduce lactic acid buildup by facilitating the Krebs Cycle in the horse’s muscles.
2. Supply nutrients to form acetyl coenzyme A (CoA) for the release of muscle energy
The same nutrients that help to reduce lactic acid buildup are necessary for the conversion of pyruvate to acetyl coenzyme A (CoA) and the release of energy during the Krebs Cycle in the horse’s muscles. CoA is the gateway to the Krebs cycle, which releases energy during exercise. (Unconverted pyruvate cannot be converted to CoA and ferments to create lactic acid.)
3. Help limit muscle breakdown with Vitamin E and Selenium
Oxidation increases as the need for energy increases. As the oxidation process is heightened, so is the production of free radicals, known to cause damage to vital tissues in the horse. When partnered together, antioxidants Vitamin E and Selenium may work together as free radical scavengers with the goal to reduce or stop cell damage that may contribute to muscle problems such as “tying up”.
4. Support rapid muscle recovery with Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAA’s)
BCAA’s are known to support the process of the repair, building, and replacement of muscle tissue lost during hard physical work. Following heavy exercise, BCAA levels in the bloodstream are sometimes reduced to the point where the body needs to breakdown muscle cells and degrade liver protein to supply more BCAA’s for the body to use. By supplementing BCAA’s, the body may use these readily available amino acids before breaking down muscle cells.
5. Address exercise-induced muscle and back soreness
DL-Phenylalanine and L-Leucine are D-amino acids that utilize a well-studied and documented “pathway to comfort” that avoids the well-known side effects of veterinarian prescribed drugs.
