Lauren Chumley Bio
Lauren Chumley
Dressage
Lauren started riding at age twelve at a local riding stable in Hamilton, Ohio. She began training primarily in dressage at age fourteen. Her dressage career began with Rebecca Knollman. During this time Lauren also worked at Sorum Fjord Farm, one of the largest Norwegian Fjord breeding farms in the country. There she helped train and promote this rare breed in both dressage and eventing. She met Silke Rembacz at her frequent clinics at Knollman Dressage in nearby Lebanon. After three years of training together at these clinics, Silke invited Lauren to join her as assistant trainer at Silke Rembacz Dressage in Flemington, New Jersey. In early 2011 she branched out and began her own training and sales business based in Pittstown, New Jersey April-December and in Loxahatchee, Florida in January-March.
Lauren is a USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold medalist who is making her mark in both dressage and eventing. She has competed through Grand Prix and has earned multiple USDF year-end and All-Breeds Awards at the national level. In 2007, Lauren and SNF Maarta were National Champions at the American Eventing Championships, defeating a field of 75 entries. She completed her first Grand Prix on the Welsh/Morgan pony, Nyewyn, in March of 2013. Currently she shows Melissa Dowling’s Morgan gelding, Avatar’s Jazzman, in Grand Prix dressage and Training level eventing.
Lauren is currently riding and competing her own Saracchi, an Oldenburg gelding, at PSG/I-1, Melissa Dowling’s Morgan gelding Avatar’s Jazzman at Grand Prix and her German Riding Pony gelding Nikolas at Third level, and Alice Tarjan’s Oldenburg, Syclla, in the FEI small tour. She also competes her own KWPN gelding Millennium at the small tour levels. In 2014, Lauren began working with Full Moon Farm, an excellent breeder of Norwegian Fjord horses for sport. She is currently campaigning several of their young stock and bringing them along up the levels in dressage and eventing. The most recent additions to her show string include Steve Tarshis’s Serengeti, a 2012 Oldenburg gelding by Sir James/Lancet and Chris Preston’s Dartmouth and Dexter. Dartmouth is a 2013 Hanoverian by Don Index/Sandro Hit and Dexter is a 2008 KWPN gelding by Glock’s Johnson. Lauren is aiming both Serengeti and Dartmouth towards the FEI Young Horse divisions and Dexter to the USEF Developing Horse Program. Lauren will also compete Carol Smith’s Oldenburg mare Laurel (Longchamp/Pointmaker) in her first FEI tests in 2017.
Lauren spends her winters in Loxahatchee, Florida, and her summers in Pittstown, NJ working and training regularly with Jim Koford. She has previously worked with or participated in clinics with Lee Tubman, Michael Barisone, Lars Petersen, Rebecca Knollman, Silke Rembacz, Jochen Hippenstiel, George Williams, Fritz Fleischmann, Todd Flettrich, Heather Blitz, Holger Bechtloff, Jane Savoie, Sabine Schut-Kery, Christoph Hess, and Pether Markne. She works with ALL breeds, from ponies and thoroughbreds to warmbloods and everything in between! She looks forward to competing in both dressage and eventing in 2017.
