Perfect Prep EQ Training Day Saved My Rescue Horse
I got my horse fours years ago (Winter going into 2010) from an unfit home that just did not want her anymore. When I showed up, she was standing knee deep in mud with a leather stirrup strap for a cribbing strap and terrible feet. She was 10 years old and had successfully done nothing her entire life. I had been training horses since I was 12 years old (with the help of my mother of course) and have never seen a horse so confused. She wanted to be good but had been beaten, over-bitted, and yelled at so much that she did not know what was right. Within the first year of owning her, she almost ran me into a school bus when she had a panic attack about just walking home. It almost felt as if she was ‘blacking out’ and would just be in her own world. This continued over the next couple of years, I was beginning to get frustrated and discussed euthanasia since it seemed she would never be stable. Fall of 2012, I was informed that she had a 4th degree roar and could probably only be used as a walk trot school horse. There was no way this horse was going to be quiet enough to go around in circles in a ring. I then decided to put her on Perfect Prep EQ Training Day. I could not have asked for a better result. Through the winter, the mare became more and more adjustable. She was listening to the aids and her ‘black outs’ were minimal. She stopped having panic attacks and I could begin asking more from her. All last year, while on Perfect Prep, I had a horse that I could bring to lessons and trainers actually liked! This spring, I finally was able to take this horse to her first Horse Trials. She has been great in the three events I have taken her to, finishing the Training Novice division at Groton House with just one rail added onto her dressage score. She has come so far and I have to thank Perfect Prep for getting me a horse that I can smile about!
